Dino Wins Honorable Mention in 2013 ACE Awards in Search/Rescue Category!

Dino Wins Honorable Mention, Second Year in a Row!

Out of several hundred dogs entered, Dino earns an Honorable Mention and top five award in the Search and Rescue category in his work helping to find lost pets throughout Northern and Central California for over four years!

Here is my nomination for the 2013 ACE Humane Fund Awards for my dog, Dino, otherwise known as:

Dino has been working full time throughout Northern and Central California as a tracking dog to help find lost pets since January 2009. In 445 cases in four and a half years to date, many of those cases covering multiple days, Dino has had many finds, both of alive and deceased animals. In addition, Dino’s tracking efforts has led directly to many pets being found following the search.

Here is a link to the case blog with all cases documented in detail with full notes and GPS maps:

Here is a long list of letters of recommendation from past clients who were happy with Dino’s work to help them get their lost pets back home:

I adopted Dino through Grateful Dog Rescue in San Francisco in December 2006, and, in addition to all his work looking for lost pets, he also has many accomplishments in the show ring, including the first Rally Advanced Excellent Mixed Breed and the Second Utility Dog Mixed Breed with AKC (both earned in less than 10 months); the first Mixed Breed to show at the prestigious Golden Gate Kennel Club Dog Show in San Francisco; and Mixed Breed Conformation Grand Champion. A total of over 30 titles combined in multiple sports, including many national rankings, awards, recognitions, highest scores, versatility titles, and hall of fame achievements.

We are currently starting training in the sport of drafting/carting.

Even though Dino does not have a fancy pedigree, does not have well known parents, does not contribute to the pet overpopulation, and does not look like any other dog, he still works harder and covers more cases than any human search and rescue or police dog currently working. I feel his accomplishments deserve to be recognized by a national audience.
