Happy 8th Birthday to Dino!

Seven years ago today, December 23, 2006, Georgette Musante with Grateful Dogs Rescuebrought Dino, named Sparky at the time, to my apartment in Hayward, CA. We had met a couple of days previously at Fort Funston Dog Park in San Francisco to meet him and have him meet my dog, Scout.

Dino had been surrendered three months before at the San Francisco Animal Care and Control because "they had too many kids and not enough time for the dog."

I had been looking on Petfinder for another year old, male herding mix for a couple of months after Rowdy passed away the previous September at the age of 16 years. This is what was posted on the Petfinder page for Dino: "Sparky is a nine month old tricolored Cattle Dog/Corgi mix with soft silky fur who weights about 35 pounds. He is very sweet and attentive and loves to snuggle with his person. He is house trained, friendly with new people and plays well with other dogs. He is just learning his manners and sometimes is too pushy with older dogs. He seems to like the kids he meets, but would probably do best with older children because he is mouthy. He is just a puppy and needs lots of chew toys. Sparky needs a guardian with the time and energy to devote to him and his training." They were 100% accurate about Dino's temperament and possibilities!

Thank you to Grateful Dogs Rescue for seeing the potential in Dino when everybody else had given up on him! These are the photos that were posted on the Petfinder.com webpage for Dino.
